The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe

In Autumn 2010 we used The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe as a basis for our workshops, as Union Theatre performed the show in November 2010, this encouraged the younger members of Star Workshops to join the main company and take part in a full production.

The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe is one of the most beautifully dramatised productions written originally by C.S. Lewis and recreated for the stage by Adrian Mitchell with magical music bringing the children's classic tonight.

Four children, Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy are evacuated to live with Professor Digory Kirke, during the Second World War. They decide to explore his house and find a wardrobe in an empty room. Upon opening it they are transported to the magical land of Narnia, which is under the evil spell of the White Witch, where it is always winter and never Christmas.

Edmund is enchanted by the White Witch, when she promises to make him King. In return, he betrays his brother, sisters and the great lion Aslan.

Aslan re-appears in Narnia and breaks the spell of winter, however the Witch demands Edmund’s life, as he was led into temptation and betrayed his siblings.

In our workshops we explored the importance of projection, the process of creating a set, along with learning music from the show and creating our own songs about Narnia.
